What to expect at Safari World Bangkok
Safari World sits on 170 acres in Minburi, east of central Bangkok, and is genuinely two parks in one: an open-plan Safari Park you drive through in your own car (or in one of their air-conditioned coaches, included in the ticket), and a Marine Park you walk through with dolphin, sea lion, orangutan and cowboy stunt shows scheduled hourly. The Safari Park is the more impressive of the two: rhinos, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, tigers and lions roam in fenced sectors and cross the road in front of you. The drive takes about 50 minutes.
The Marine Park is more of a traditional theme park with animal encounters. The dolphin show at 11:00 and 14:00 is the daily headline; a spy-themed stunt show with jet skis and pyrotechnics runs at 12:15 and 15:30. Feeding a giraffe from a raised platform costs $3 and is the moment that sells most family holiday photos. There are also bird feeding shows, a small egg-world exhibit, and a strip of Thai and Western fast-food restaurants around the central lake. It is unashamedly commercial but well-run.
This is the Bangkok family option — kids from 3 to 13 will genuinely enjoy a day, and the drive-through element makes it different from any other zoo in the city. Take a taxi from central Sukhumvit — around $12 each way, 40 minutes without traffic — because there is no metro and taxis home can be scarce; ask the ticket desk to call one. Combine, if you want a two-day family plan, with the Siam Amazing Park water park (a separate operator further east) or with Kidzania in Siam Paragon.
